The second-hand marketplace Users Share Displeasure Over Sizing Modifications
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
This online marketplace has revised its size classifications for women's and children's garments failing to inform all users about the change.
Digital Channels Backlash
Many shoppers and sellers have taken to social media stating that platform listings now display a different size category versus the original listing due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand where appropriate, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Modifications
Before the change, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum such as S/UK 8-10.
In some cases, the size labels have been reassigned - like an L measurement was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were appearing on the platform as measurements 20-22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, located in England, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she said.
Marketplace Information
The service features exceeding 100 million members, with 18 million British users.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This represents another occasion when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods due to shopper criticism.
